Time lapse photography is the most incredible medium. We know that everything we see in a time lapse is simply still photographs of something that exists in reality – but when combined into a video, it takes on a whole new dimension.

This is abundantly clear in the following video. It is nothing short of astounding, beautiful and expansive. It’s hard to believe that it was shot in this world – let alone in Europe!

The subject of this film is the highest mountain in Spain, El Tiede. It is known for it’s amazing views of the sky, and is home to a world famous observatory – the Tiede Observatories. After seeing this video, I can see why thy chose this location.

More about the artist:

Terje Sorgjerd comes from Norway, and his first video was called The Aurora which shows the Northern Lights in a spectacular fashion. About this current project, he writes:

The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide. I have to say this was one of the most exhausting trips I have done. There was a lot of hiking at high altitudes and probably less than 10 hours of sleep in total for the whole week.

I think his goal has been completed! Check out the video, and follow him on Facebook:
